One of the most striking features which you see when you arrive on the Island are the famous windmills. There are several dotted around the town but most spectacular are the line of six on the west coast, one of which is being renovated. There is a working windmill museum above the town on Aghios Ionnou road which is worth visiting because it is the only working windmill on the Island.
